Job Title: Food Service Administrative Assistant
Reports to: Director of Food Service
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma with vocational/technical school training in nutrition and business and 3-5 years of experience in food service management; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's license.
SKILLS/EFFORT:
Ensures food service staff maintain high standards of control for quality and food production and service.
Maintains integrity and accountability of the school nutrition program through compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
Maintain accountability of recorded documentation for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
Assures compliance with school/district policies and procedures.
Implements administrative policies for proper use and care of all equipment.
Performs all duties and responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner.
Communicates effectively with all food service staff and director.
Provides leadership as a team member of the food service staff.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Conducts duties in an office environment and cafeteria environment with occasional exposure to discomforting conditions such as cold, electrical hazards and wetness. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related duties that require constant attention, long concentration durations and meeting tight deadlines. Physical demands are restricted to office and cafeteria work requiring lifting/ moving of items weighing up to 25 pounds. Routine local travel is required. Occasional overnight travel may be required. Job requires the operation of standard office equipment and computer.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Process meal application and review for accuracy
Process direct certification of student and review for accuracy
Reconcile bank statements for each cafe' and verify compliance with Federal requirements
Receive and process all invoices from all vendors
Maintain the flow of Work Order's - Order parts, verify procurement regulations are being followed.
Verify all vendors are compliant with procurement, state and federal regulations
Forecast, order, submit orders, verify delivery of products, review invoices and usage of USDA foods received by district, including the produce from the Department of Defense
Process and verify the monthly reports received by sites for accuracy
Train staff, as needed, to insure Federal and State guidelines are followed
Update and maintain Food Service Assets and Depreciation
Keep schools and the public informed of the menus and services provided by school cafeterias
Assist with coordination of Summer Food Programs, gather site eligibility status, advertise, train staff, monitor program and assist with filing claims
Assist updating Point of Sale software and hardware, maintain system and train staff
Assist updating Menu Planning software
Perform other related duties as may be required
